Whatever We Want is an irreverent, often comical chat show that covers a range of topics each episode – from art to politics, pop culture, current events, and everything in between – through the lens of Black life and from the unique perspectives of the show's co-hosts – Jamal Sterling, a married dad/actor/teacher and Khalilah Elliott, a single, child-free, career- woman/entrepreneur. Whatever We Want with Jay & Kay co-host Jamal Gibran Sterling is a native of Detroit, Michigan and a graduate of the Historically Black College Dillard University in New Orleans as well as Southern Methodist University's MFA Acting Program.

A voice over artist and film/tv actor, Jamal has appeared on several television series including "Prison Break," "Dallas," "American Dreams," etc. and on a host of short films and television commercials.

He has also has appeared on stage in several productions including Our Town, Madame Bovary, Fences, A Soldier's Play, Titus Andronicus, Diamond Dick: The Tulsa Race Riots of 1921, Penny Candy, The Winter's Tale, Race and Breakfast," etc.
